Bangkok Places Three Hotels in the 50 Best Hotels 2026 Top 10, More Than Paris or Tokyo

The 10 Best Hotels in the World in 2026, Plus Thailand’s Five Entries and How Each One Moved

The 50 Best Hotels 2026 ranking was announced on 15 September 2026 in Paris. Rosewood Hong Kong holds No. 1 for a second consecutive year. Thailand has five hotels in the Top 100, all of them in Bangkok, and three of those sit inside the world top 10. Alongside the overall ranking, the 50 Best Hotels 2026 awards cover seven regional titles.

The Complete Top 10 of the 50 Best Hotels 2026

3 Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River Bangkok
4 Atlantis The Royal Dubai

Counted by city, Bangkok places three hotels inside the top ten, more than anywhere else on the list. Hong Kong follows with two. Every other city has one.

The sharper detail is where the usual names landed. The three cities most people picture first when they think of grand hotels all fall outside the top ten: Tokyo at 11, London at 13 and Paris at 14, in the city that hosted the ceremony.

Thailand’s Five Entries, and How Each One Moved Since 2025

All five are in Bangkok, and each maps directly onto last year’s ranking:

Hotel 2025 2026 Move
Capella Bangkok 3 2 Up 1
Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River 2 3 Down 1
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok 7 10 Down 3
Aman Nai Lert Bangkok 51 48 Up 3, into the top 50
Rosewood Bangkok 62 70 Down 8

Compared by the Luxe Addict team against the 2025 list and the 2026 ranking from The 50 Best

Capella Bangkok is the only one of the top-ten group to climb, and it brings the hotel back near the summit it held in 2024, when it was named the world’s best, before slipping to third in 2025.

Seven Entries Down to Five, While the Rankings Climbed

In 2025 Thailand had seven hotels in the Top 100. This year it has five. The two that dropped out are Dusit Thani Bangkok, previously 60th, and The Siam, previously 70th.

Narrow the view to the top 50 and the direction reverses. Thailand had three entries there last year and has four this year, because Aman Nai Lert Bangkok moved up from 51 to 48.

What happened is not a retreat but a concentration. The Thai hotels still on the list rank higher than before, while the tail of the list fell away. That is the part a headline count of five never shows.

Three Things to Know Before Booking From This List

The ranking works well as a shortlist, with three caveats:

  • Every Thai entry is in Bangkok. Across both 2025 and 2026, no hotel in Phuket, Samui or Chiang Mai has made the list. For this tier of experience, the destination is the city, not the coast

  • The world number one is not in Thailand. Rosewood Hong Kong has held the top spot two years running, so completing the podium means budgeting for the flight as well

  • A higher rank does not mean a better fit. A riverside property like Four Seasons and a city hotel like Mandarin Oriental offer different trips. Choose by the trip, not by the number

One more practical note: rooms at these properties book out faster in the weeks after each announcement, so high-season plans are worth locking in early.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which hotel is number one in the 50 Best Hotels 2026?

Rosewood Hong Kong, which takes the top spot for a second consecutive year and also holds this year’s Best Hotel in Asia award.

How many Thai hotels made the 2026 list, and which ones?

Five, all in Bangkok: Capella Bangkok at 2, Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River at 3, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok at 10, Aman Nai Lert Bangkok at 48 and Rosewood Bangkok at 70.

When and where was the ranking announced?

On 15 September 2026 in Paris. The extended 51-100 places were published ahead of the ceremony, earlier in September.

Why are there no hotels from Phuket or Samui on the list?

Neither the 2026 nor the 2025 ranking includes a Thai hotel outside Bangkok. The organisers have not published a reason, so all that can be said is that the result has come out the same way two years running.

What This List Tells You

Read only the headline and Thailand looks stronger this year. The underlying count fell from seven to five, while the hotels that remain rank higher than they did. Bangkok did not win on volume. It won by holding three of the world’s top ten hotels, which no other city managed this year.

Collecting the whole podium means flying for it, since number one is in Hong Kong and number five sits on Lake Como. Emirates Business Class Promo to Hong Kong from 18,514 and Etihad Business Class to Europe: Round Trip from 64.3K THB, which lands in Milan, the gateway to Como, are both worth a look before you start working down the ranking.
